Unpleasantness I
Dukkha 1 (SN 22.140)
1. I heard thus. At one time the Blessed One lived in the monastery offered by Anāthapiṇḍika in Jeta's grove in Sāvatthi, and the Blessed One addressed the monks from there:
2. “Monks, you should dispel interest for whatever is Unpleasant. What is Unpleasant?
3. “Monks, matter is Unpleasant. You should dispel interest for matter.
4-6. “Monks, feelings, perceptions, and intentions are Unpleasant. You should dispel interest for feelings, perceptions, and intentions.
7. “Monks, consciousness is Unpleasant, you should dispel interest for consciousness.
8. “Monks, you should dispel interest for whatever is Unpleasant.”
“Monks, you should dispel interest [greed, or interest and greed] for whatever is unpleasant.
2. “Monks, you should dispel interest for whatever is Unpleasant. What is Unpleasant?
3. “Monks, matter is Unpleasant. You should dispel interest for matter.
